Increasing evidence has been indicating a crucial role of black carbon (BC) in balancing the budget ofglobal carbon.However,the geochemical behavior of BC in the ocean is still poorly understood.Here,we analyzed particulate black carbon (PBC) in the surface Western Arctic and subarctic Oceanincluding the Chukchi and Bering Seas.
