Penny-shaped cracks in transversely isotropic plane of three-dimensional piezoelectric semiconductors are studied via the extended displacement discontinuity method. The fundamental solutions for uniformly distributed extended displacement discontinuities on an annular crack element are derived.By using the fundamental solutions and the boundary element method, the extended stresses and the intensity factors of a penny-shaped crack under the uniformly mechanical-electric-current load applied on the penny-shaped crack surface are calculated. The fracture behaviors of piezoelectric semiconductors are studied.
