The plant hormone auxin is essential for leaf and root development.A number of Aux/IAA genes have been reported to play critical roles in lateral root development.Here,DNL1/OsIAA6(LOC_Os01g53880),a member of the Aux/IAA gene family,was isolated from a rice mutant defective in the development of lateral roots,root hairs and leaves.
