Urea transporter (UT) proteins are expressed in kidney and facilitate urinary concentrating function.Inhibitors of UT function have potential clinical applications as sodium-sparing diuretics in congestive heart failure,cirrhosis,and hypertension.High-throughput screening of drug-like small molecules has identified UT inhibitors with putative binding sites on UT proteins.
