Maize rough dwarf disease, transmitted by small brown planthopper (SBPH) ,was one of main viral diseases on maize plants in Wenling city, Zhejiang province.In recent years, rice black-streaked dwarf disease also occurred seriously on rice plants in the city.SBPH transmitted the viral disease between rice, weed, maize, and other host plants.Therefore, the disease caused a great of yield losses of both rice and corn.In order to explore the basic mechanism of occurrence and prevalence of MRDD and to provide a scientific guidline for accurate forecast and prevention of the disease, we investigated on the relationship between corn yield losses, maize growth, and the severity of Maize dwarf disease during 2009~2010.the main conclusions were summarized as following.
