OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to analyze the situation of elderly patients confined in a single-center who eventually died because of electrolyte and acid-base imbalance.METHODS: A total of 12,097 elderly (≥65 years old) individuals were confined in Tianjin Cancer Hospital on May 1, 2012 to April 30, 2013.Among these, 500 patients died.Thorough analysis and investigation of the electrolyte, acid-base imbalance, and other related factors were conducted.
