  we will present first the solution phase synthesis of ultrathin nanowires of tungsten oxide with independent control over the length and diameter.Then, we will show the growth of novel hybrid nanostructures and present the chemical, optical and catalytic properties of metal (Pt, Pd,Ag, Au)-metal oxide grown via a simple and reproducible approach.Finally, the catalytic properties of the metal oxide and metal-metal oxide hybrid nanostructures will be discussed.
