Polyvinyl alcohol/cinnamon essential oil/β-cyclodextrin (PVA/CEO/β-CD) antimicrobial nanofibrous film was successfully fabricated by electrospinning.Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was applied to observe the morphology of nanofiber under the different electrospinning parameters,as well as ATR-FTIR and TGA analysis were carried out for nanofibrous fims’ characterization. The results showed that the optimal parameters for elecctrospinning were as follows: the mass fraction of PVA and β-CD was 6% and 2%,respectively,voltage 15 kV,flow rate 0.4 mL/h and distance 14 cm.Under which, the average diameter of nanofibrous film obtained was 240 nm.Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) indicated the nanofibrous film’s thermostability was enhanced remarkably due to the encapsulation of CEO into β-CD(262.32 oC Vs 322.54 oC).The molecular interaction among PVA,CEO and β-CD was demonstrated by attenuated total reflectance-fouriertransform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy analysis.Additionally, the PVA/CEO/β-CD nanofibrous film exhibited excellent antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, the inhibition zone were 16.81 and 9.92 cm2,respectively,indicating it is potential for the application in active food packaging.
