Advances in modern biotechnology offer potential opportunities for economic bioconversion of renewable lignocellulosic biomass into bioproducts.This study investigated the effects of various pretreatment conditions for reducing sugar and bioethanol production using sugarcane bagasse.Fresh sugarcane bagasse(SCB)was ground and proximate composition determined according the Association of Official Analytical Chemists(AOAC).The SCB was then subjected to various treatments which include Hydrothermal(Hot-H2O),Hydrogen peroxide(H2O2),Tetraoxosulphate VI acid(H2SO4),Ethanol-Tetraoxosulphate VI acid(C2H5OH and H2SO4),Sodium hydroxide(NaOH),and Combined Ethanol-Sodium hydroxide(C2H5OH and NaOH).
