Electrospinning is the state-of-the-art technique for the preparation of polymer nanofiber-based breathable nonwovens.Fibers of these nonwovens could have a large variety of chemical composition and could represent many different fiber shapes and dimensions which give access to a near endless number of new materials.1 Therefore electrospinning is so attractive.Typically these nonwovens are two-dimensional and find applications in filtration, textile, medicine, pharmacy, agriculture, composites, and sensors.1 The electrospun nanofibers are continuously long and entangled that limits post-spinning modifications and their use as filler additives.Post electrospinning alterations are limited mostly to chemical modifications.A large variety of new options would be given if electrospun fibers could be applied in standard materials processing like film casting, melt extrusion,freeze-drying-just to name a few.The basic concept for new chances with electrospun fibers is the separation of the electrospinning process itself from the final processing step.
