In this study, to improve tractor efficiency through applying hybrid driving system,constructing parallel hybrid tractor using major components of hybrid driving system, measuring the load and fuel consumption by gear settings during plowing, and evaluating performance of the hybrid tractor were conducted.The parallel type hybrid tractor was developed through adding on major components of hybrid system on the tractor.The parallel hybrid tractor was constructed using 71kW engine power tractor model, the major components consist of 7.4 kW rated power motor/generator, inverter, LiFePO4 battery, battery management system, and hybrid control unit.To evaluate the performance of the hybrid tractor, the field test were conducted by ground speed using hybrid tractor and conventional tractor, respectively, and the field data were measured during plowing.The measured field data were analyzed by ground speed, and those were compared between conventional tractor and hybrid tractor each other using t-test.The results show that performance of the hybrid tractor was better than the conventional tractor, and in case of fuel efficiency, the hybrid tractor was about 57% of the conventional tractor at ground speed M4,especially.Therefore, it is possible to improve performance of the tractor efficiency through applying the parallel hybrid system.
