Recently, with the high rate of cancer death, detection and isolation of rare cancer cells from complex samples is attracting more and more attention [1].In this work, we prepared poly(styrene/acrylamide) copolymer nanospheres with emulsifier-free polymerization method [2], then took them as templates to construct magnetic nanospheres (MNS) after modified with a foundation layer of PEI (low MW 25 kDa) [3].On the basis of PEI layers, the nano-γ-Fe2O3 magnetic particles were assembled on the surfaces of the nanospheres through coordination between metallic atoms from nano-γ-Fe2O3 and primary amines of PEI, then a second layer of PEI was coated for attachment of another layer of nano-γ-Fe2O3.
