Following recent appeal of using energy-efficient heat pump for heating water in southern Chinas lodging sector,manufacturers are interested in launching another novel version of heat pump which extract additional energy from two other heat sources-discharge of hot water and solar radiation.A prototype was developed for testing.And three types of attitudinal responses(will purchase,will delay,and will refer)from 50 hotel operators and owners were investigated by using artificial neural network.Five main dimensional areas including energy saving,emission reduction,risk prediction,equipment knowledge,and return on investment are used as input layer.The sub-criteria include energy saving potential,energy performance,contracting,emission reduction potential,regulatory environment,future fuel price expectation,exchange rate of foreign currency,cycle business equipment reliability,machines operating life,year of warranty,service provider,payback period,net present value,internal rate of return,cost of front end planning and project priority.The result shows that most decision makers tend to adopt the "wait" attitude and the predicted risk associated with business cycle was rated as the highest weighting sub-criteria.
