Poly (ionic liquid)-coated silica materials were designed and synthesized as new sorbents for extraction and separation of target compounds from complicated samples. They exhibit excellent physical and chemical properties which benefit the process of extraction and separation.Meanwhile, the porous poly (ionic liquid)s on the silica surface significantly increase the selectivity of target compounds.Due to the special properties of these materials, a new strategy was designed to isolate flavones from Chamaecyparis Obtusa. These flavones in plant particles were firstly mixed with sorbents and extracted by dispersive solid-liquid-solid extraction, which were then separated from interference by solid phase extraction. This method was quite efficient and convenient, and thus could be applied with other flavones or even similar compounds in many natural plants.
