In this study,catalytic pyrolysis using HZSM-5 catalyst was explored for the production of olefins and aromatic hydrocarbons and nutrient-rich bio-char from sewage sludge.Pyrolysis temperature and catalysis temperature were investigated to obtain an optimal condition in terms of hydrocarbons production.The optimal pyrolysis and catalysis temperatures were 500°C and 600°C,respectively.Carbon yields of olefins and aromatic hydrocarbons were 24%and 19%,respectively.For comparison,lignocellulosic biomass(red oak)was tested under the same conditions,which produced maximum carbon yield of olefins and aromatic hydrocarbons of 15%and 19%,respectively.
