Normally,investigation of a protein-protein interaction is limited to studying how one single molecule interacts with another.However,new evidence shows that extra-molecular activities among protein complexes in the condensed state can bring an influence to bear on "private" molecular interactions.In this work,actomyosin gels were studied as examples of a condensed protein system.Gels of 2 different compositions were used:(i) natural actomyosin (AM) containing the main contractile proteins,actin and myosin,and the regulatory Ca2+-sensitive system (CSS,tropomyosin and troponin); (ii) AM from which CSS had been removed by washing.AM+CSS interacted with AM-CSS in 2-component suspensions (2-CS) containing different ratios of micro particles of the gels,and also in 2-layer systems (2-LS) (2 layers of gels formed in the tube).
