At present, the efficacy of radiation therapy for lung cancer is very low. Kimura recently reported that the 5-year survival rate was 7.5%, and it was reported to be between 7 and 8.7%. The failure of radiotherapy, in addition to distant metastases, also results from the presence of hypoxic cells in the tumor (because the cells are very resistant to radiation). For this reason, in addition to conducting hyperbaric oxygen chamber radiation therapy and high LET irradiation (fast neutrons or negative π mesons, etc.), the third route is to search for increased radiosensitivity to hypoxic cells without affecting oxygenation. Radiosensitivity sensitizers for cells have been reported in recent years. The purpose of this observation is to explore economically convenient radiosensitizers from traditional Chinese medicine preparations to improve the efficacy of radiotherapy for advanced lung cancer. The clinical observation results of sensitized radiotherapy with 0.25% curcuma oil (hereinafter referred to as curcuma oil) in patients with advanced lung cancer (6 in stage III and 6 in stage IV) are summarized below. The preliminary summary is as follows:
