  Objective Bone mass is maintained through a balance between osteoblast and osteoclast activity.Osteoblasts regulate osteoclast formation through their expression of RANKL and OPG in response to a variety of factors.Recent studies have shown that chondrocytes may also regulate osteoclast formation through their expression of RANKL and OPG.β-catenin is a central molecule in canonical Wnt signaling and plays a critical role in controlling mesenchymal stem cell differentiation,bone and cartilage development and OPG expression by osteoblasts.
