It has been proposed that AQPs might have involved in certain clinical diseases such as brain and pulmonary edema, glaucoma and tumor etc.Our previous study has proved two carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (acetazolamide and topiramate) could significantly inhibit the expression of AQP1 protein bothin vivo and in vitro and could dramatically inhibit the function of water transportation across the cell membrane.
