The case of Aspergillus amstelodami isolated from a patient is reported.The patient was a 46-year old woman without any notable past history, most of her fingernails were damaged,no history of nail trauma.We treated with itraconazole pulse therapy for 5 months, and ad hibeo Amorolfine Hydrochloride Liniment at the same time.After six month the nail lesions were almost Unchanged.Direct microscopic examination of the superficial nail scrapings revealed fungal filaments and inoculation of portions of the superficial nail scrapings on cultures media yielded A.amstelodami after 16 days.The isolate was identified as Eurotium spp.on the basis of gross morphologi.cal characteristics of the fungal colony and microscopic characterization of slide cultures.The diagnosis of A.amstelodami was confirmed by PCR sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer domain of the rDNA gene.In ritro antifungal susceptibility test demonstrated that the fungus was susceptible to itraconazole voriconazole terbinafine amphotericin B and fluconazole, caspofunginv was invalidation.Our case is the first reported case of onychomycosis caused by A.amstelodami in the wold.
