In the present study,a novel digital image projection(DIP)technique was developed to achieve quantitative,time-resolved measurements of water film thickness distributions to quantify the dynamic impinging process of water droplets onto a solid surface in order to elucidate underlying physics pertinent to dynamic impingement of super-cooled water droplets onto frozen cold aircraft wing surfaces to start ice accretion process.
