S-1 is an orally active combination drug consisting of tegafur as a prodrug of 5-FU, gimeracil, and oteracil potassium.Based on the results of domestic phase Ⅲ trials, S-1 is recognized in Japan as one of the key drugs for the treatment of adenocareinomas, not only gastric but also colorectal, lung and pancreatic.In other countries, however, its introduction has only just about started.
