准噶尔盆地侏罗系属河流三角洲沉积体系,在盆地腹部发育三角洲前缘水下分流河道及河口坝等多类砂体。油气藏类型既有构造型又有非构造型,而广大的斜坡及凹陷区带是岩性油气藏勘探的主要领域。莫西庄地区的岩性油气藏勘探应用了地震处理、解释及综合研究一体化的工作模式,即以区域构造、沉积格架为指导,以高分辨率地震资料和钻井资料为基础,以层序地层砂体研究为主线,有效应用多种地质与地球物理处理技术方法,开展储层分布精细研究和油气成藏要素分析,描述评价岩性圈闭及其含油气性,取得了较高的钻探成功率和一系列的油气发现。
