《诗经》中有许多反映婚恋风俗的诗 ,爱情这一文学作品的永恒主题在《诗经》中已体现得十分完美和明朗。《诗经》中的婚恋诗 ,其美学价值尤为异彩纷呈 :其喜剧之美 ,体现了人的本质力量的值得肯定的进步、可贵的一面 ;其悲剧之美 ,以否定的形式肯定了进步力量的实践和斗争 ,体现了人的本质力量的不可战胜 ;其崇高之美 ,是人的本质力量的巨大威力的明证 ,主要体现在对爱情的忠贞不渝以及追求爱情时的反抗精神上。
