  Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disease which is lack of effective treatment and patients often die of respiratory failure within 3-5 years.Cell replacement therapy is the inexorable trend for this disease.Induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells are the perfect source for cell replacement therapy because they are easily acquired and derived from patients own somatic cells which can avoid.Meanwhile, iPS cells can differentiate to every cell type of the body and there is no about them.In our study, to establish ALS-patient specific iPS cell lines, we introduce four transcription factors including Oct4, Sox2, K(1)f4, c-Myc into patients dermal fibroblasts through retrovirus and successfully established three familial ALS patients iPS cell lines.
