The local structure of the negative thermal expansion (NTE) materials Cu1.xSnxNMn3 (x=0.1 and 0.5) was investigated using neutron Pair Distribution Function (PDF).The dispersion of Cu(Sn)-Mn bonds increases with Sn concentration,which leads to a fluctuation in the strength of the antiferromagnetic coupling,consequently to the NTE in x=0.5.PACS number(s):71.30.+h,61.05.fg,71.70.-d
