Background The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of CST on isolated arterial rings and to get an insight into its mechanism in normal rats.Methods Isolated arterial rings were perfused in the multi-myograph system, (1) isotonic tension of vascular rings were contracted by different concentrations phenylephrine (PE, 10-9-10-5 mol/L); (2) isotonic tension of vascular rings were precontracted by phenylephrine (PE, 10-6 mol/L), the vasodilation action of Catestatin by different concentrations(PE, 10-8-10-4 mol/L) were observed compared with Ach and SNP; (3) observe the vasodilation action of CST after NO synthase inhibitors (L-NAME, 10-4 mol/L) pretreatment.
