We revisit the nonsequential double of ionization of helium in strong laser field by using the quantitative re-scattering (QRS) model with the total spin preservation taken into account.Based on the three-step model, the QRS assumes that the yield of the two outgoing electrons can be expressed as a product of the laser-induced returning electron wave packet and the cross sections of laser-free electron impact ionization and excitation with subsequent tunneling ionization.We use the distorted wave Born approximation to calculate the cross sections for excitation and the BBK model to evaluate the cross sections for ionization with the post-collision interaction turned on and off.The total cross sections for both excitation and ionization at low incident energies are calibrated in accordance with the results of other theoretical and/or empirical models.
