1 Research Background 1.1 Present Situation of Teaching According to the latest statistics released by Japan Foundation for International Exchange Foundation, the passing rate of Japanese language proficiency test in December 2012 was the lowest in three years since the examination reform was conducted. The average pass rates of N1, N2, N3 and other major levels are only 24.1%, 37.5% and 31.3%, far below the expectations of the people.
