Background: The exposure of fine particulate matter (PM2.5, particles with an aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5μm) pollution could cause lung inflammation and affect pulmonary immune function.During recent years, PM2.5 pollution occurs frequently in Beijing. However, epidemiological research of the effects of PM2.5 on total and disease-specific respiratory diseases morbidity is sparse and inclusive.
