Mn-MOF-74 [Mn2(DOBDC),DOBDC:2,5-dioxido-1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid] and a new metal-organic framework Mn5(BDC-O)2(BDC-OH)2(FDM-21,BDC-OH:2-hydroxyterephthalic acid) were synthesized and used as templates to investigate the formation of defects by doping fragmented linkers with reduced coordination sites,which resulted in distinctly increasing of surface area in BDC-OH doped Mn-MOF-74 with respect to defect-free Mn-MOF-74.
