The 26S proteasome, which is composed of two sub-complexes, the 20S core protease (CP) and the 19S regulatory particle (RP), plays a crucial role in degradation of proteins involved in various developmental processes. In this study, a novel gene PCG16 encoding a putative protein was identified from the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae.
