A historic city, Buyeo, located in central area of the Korean peninsula, was one of the capital cities of Baekje(百濟, 18 B.C.-663 A.D.), which was an ancient country in the era of the Three States in Korean history.When Buyeo was the capital city of Backje, called Sabi period(泗沘時代, 538-663A.D.), it was a golden age of Baekje Dynasty.Baekje was also a splendid civilization especially in the field of architecture, handicraft, metalwork, etc, flourished on the base of art and religion.They likewise strengthened the Royal Baeckje authority by taking Buddhism as the state religion.Furthermore, there were lots of international exchanges with several countries like the ancient China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.But, almost all of splendid cultural heritages of Baekje were completely destructed by Tang-Silla allied forces in 663 A.D.Therefore, only several historic remains of architecture such as rampart, ancient tomb and stone pagoda, and archaeological relics excavated since the 1920s have shown the Buyeos historical aspect obscurely.This study is an attempt to grasp the truth of the historic city, Buyeo about l,500 years ago and find a principle between preservation and development of Buyeo.To carry them out, the study has been focused on two aspects;one is the restoration of topography and landscape to combine both the view of historical geography and the method of digital modeling.The other is the construction of integrated management system for its preservation and development.In particular, to precisely recognize the correlation between urban structure and separate ruins, this study scientifically analyzes the artificial and natural alteration of geographic environment which we have not recognized up to now.This research likewise shows an assumed restoration about Buyeos ancient topography and landscape about l,500 years ago.With a restored geographic data, furthermore, the integrated system of digital modeling about the historic city was devised by superimposing the data of ruins.The integrated system of digital modeling can be used as a significant tool of the policy decision of the administrative agency of the historic city for hands-on workers in the field of the tourism, urban planning, urban landscape, urban administration, architecture and cultural properties, etc.Through the method, we also can accumulate, manage and utilize excavated and urban data effectively as an integrated management system.Finally, the application will be more evolved and improved according to the advance of computer technology.
