Shape-Memory Polymers (SMPs) are being investigated for practical use as deployable space structures, such as large antennas and long booms.Since SMP is a polymeric material, it does not have enough strength and stiffness when it is used for a structure. In order to improve the strength and stiffness of SMP, reinforcement with carbon fibers is under consideration.Fiber reinforcement increases the stiffness of SMP, but it also decreases shape recoverability.
