Parkinsons disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative syndrome characterized by loss of dopaminergic (DA) neurons in the substantia nigra (SN), formation of filamentous intraneuronal inclusions (Lewy bodies) and an extrapyramidal movement disorder.
