角膜上皮的完整是维持角膜正常功能和视觉质量的关键因素之一,其稳定性受益于角膜缘基底部干细胞不断地增殖分化和向心性移动。当各种因素导致角膜缘干细胞的破坏,会引起角膜缘干细胞的衰竭(limbal stem cell deficiency,LSCD),导致角膜上皮缺损、角膜新生血管化、角膜结膜化等,重症者引起患者的失明。目前眼表重建的手术治疗主要是行角膜缘干细胞移植,包括自体或同种异体角膜缘干细胞移植、体外培养角膜缘干细胞移植以及口腔黏膜上皮细胞的培养移植。随着角膜缘干细胞应用基础研究的深入,本专题围绕中国眼表重建现状、面临的科学问题、需要解决的问题和所做的相关应用基础研究等进行阐述。
