营业铁路上线路改建与新线铁路建设有所不同,主要在保证运输畅通、少影响运输、甚至不影响运输的情况下进行施工,因此,过渡方案的选择,是营业线路改建施工的重要环节之一。营业铁路的线路施工中,几乎大部份工程需要施工过渡。如在新建线路铺轨工序完成后,铺设工程道岔,以便进工程列车卸砂石料,需要施工过渡;在运行线路上对既有线路平面及纵断面进行改造,因工期较长,需要修筑施工便线过渡;在新车站建成后,代替既有车站,投产使用时,为了少影响运输,不仅线路需要施工过渡,而且电务配套也需要施工过渡。
