  Distant hybridization and gene engineering could be utilized in rice improvement with limited gene pool or target gene.In order to widely broaden breeding resources,approaches so called genome engineering of breeding method which through manipulation of whole genome,mainly including transferring genomic DNA of distant relatives to cultivars,identifying variant plants and selecting its progeny on whole genome level assisted by modern techniques of genomics,were performed.The results were as follows.
