Metastasis, the spread of neoplastic cells from a primary site to distant organs, remains one of the major causes of cancer mortality.Cancer metastases often show organ specificity, such as melanoma preferentially metastasizes to the lung and the brain, but the molecular mechanism of organ specific metastasis is poorly understood.Cell Fusions among tumor cells and between tumor cells and normal cells, especially macrophages, have been proposed to contribute to tumor progression and metastasis.
