The dissipation and residue levels of kresoxim-methyl in cucumber and soil under field conditions were investigated at three primary cucumber-growing regions in China.Samples were extracted with acetonitrile and determined by gas chromatography with electron capture detector (ECD).Recoveries were between 95% and 109% with RSD 1.8-2.4% in cucumber and 90-99% with RSD of 1.4-2.2% in soil at spiked levels of 0.005, 0.05, 0.5 and 5.0 mg/kg, respectively.The limit of detection of kresoxim-methyl was 1.2× 10-12 g.The dissipation rates of kresoxim-methyl were described using first-order kinetic and its half-life ranged from 1.6 to 4.2 days in cucumber and 2.4-6.2 days in soil.At harvest times, the final residues of kresoxim-methyl were far below the China maximum residue limit (MRL, 0.5 mg kg-1) in cucumber when measured 3-7 days after final application, which suggested that the use of this fungicide was safe for humans.
