Flexoelectricity describes the coupling between strain gradient and electric polarization field in material, and the converse Flexoelectric effect describes the coupling between electric field gradient and strain. The problem considering direct and converse flexoelectric effect contains the second order partial derivatives of displacement and electric potential. For this higher-order electromechanical problem,C1-continious interpolation of displacement and electric potential variables are required in conventional displacement-based approach.
