Peptides and proteins are major components of organics in water.Small tyrosyl dipeptides are frequently detectable in tap water. In this study,we studied the formation of halogenated tyrosyl dipeptides under conditions mimicking water treatment. They can readily react with residual chlorine to form chlorinated byproducts in disinfected water.
