<正>During the process of engineering project, lots of engineering cost problem’s successful revolution all relies on grasping exact information. But with the development of dividing the social work and with the improvement of specialization degree, asymmetric information’s problem becomes more serious day-by-day. Many aspects of engineering project, including engineering cost, are affected by it. Information management’s idea being used in total cost management (TCM) will have great realistic meaning. Today information management takes more important actions in the field of engineering management. Successful TCM relies on good information management. And the information’s lack, lag or even the information’s bad disposal, all can incur bad outcome during the execution of TCM. Based on lots of literatures and the theory of TCM, this paper particularly studies the successful information management, which is the key function to TCM for engineering project. On the question of how to build successful information management in project, constructive opinion also is mentioned.
