The area of central Sudan which lies between (10°-16° N and 22°-36° E), is affected by extreme events (drought, desertification and floods). The main objectives of this study is to detect climate change signals and climate variability, and analyze patterns of changes of extreme rainfall and temperature events in that area of central Sudan.which show the historical climate behavior that contains climate change and variability over Sudan. The significance of this study is that the area is contains nearly all the agricultural and animal resources of Sudan, and that any deterioration in vegetation cover will significantly affect the economy of the country which depends mostly on agricultural and animal resources.Linear regression technique was used under (Excel software) to analyze the data of annual mean temperature, annual rainfall amounts, monthly rainfall and monthly temperature and also using the annual index of wetness to monitoring the drought. From the results obtained it is found that, there is a significant declining trend of the rainfall from (1911-2012), and a significant rising trend of temperature for the same period and increasing high interannual variability which is another indicating climatic change. It is concluded that, there was a decreasing trend in precipitation, and increasing trend in temperature, which showed climatic change indication.
