Dexmedetomidine, a sedative/anesthetic drug is associated with a lower incidence of delirium and reduced length of ventilation after severe brain trauma.Dexmedetomidine has neuroprotective effects against ischemia and may protect against trauma in hippocampal organotypic cultures.
