Experimental and FEM Analysis of Filament-Reinforced Cylindrical Vessels under Internal Pressure

  In this study, we present an experimental and finite element investigation of a comperessed natural gas storage vessel.This vessel is made of a glass/epoxy envelope coated on a metal liner.In the finite element model, the laminate composite is assumed to be an anisotropic purely elastic material and the liner is considered as an elasto-pelastic material.The suggested finite element model which is based on netting analysis, provides the solution for stresses and strains under cylindrical section of the vessel under hydrostatic pressure.The objective of this work is comparing experimantal results with the finite element model to validate the results of the suggested model by manufacturing and testing some prototype vessels.Experimental results are compared with the results of finite elemet code, a good agreement is reached.
