MicroRNAs(miRNAs),a class of abundant small noncoding RNAs,have been identified as important regulators of gene expression in both plants and animals and are involved in many aspects of plant development,including the modulation of plant agricultural traits.Here,we reported that a miRNA,OsmiR397,was found to be associated with increased grain size,more rice panicle branching,and higher grain productivity.More interestingly,we found that the increased grain yield was simultaneous with the ahead of heading in the OsmiR397 overexpressing plants(OXmiR397).
