A series of Phosphorous-contained Flameretardant Thermo-tropic Liquid Crystalline Polyarylate(PF-TLCP)was synthesized by melt polycondensation from pacetoxybenzoic acid(p-ABA),6-acetoxy-2-naphthalene carboxylic acid(ANA),terephthalic acid(TPA),2-(6-oxido-6H-dibenz 〈c,e〉 〈1,2〉 oxaphosphorin-6-yl)-1,4-diacetoxy phenylene(DOPO-AHQ).The chemical structure and properties were characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,13C nuclear magnetic resonance(13C NMR)spectroscopy,hot-stage polarizing microscope(POM),X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),thermo-gravimetric analysis(TGA)and limiting oxygen index(LOI)analysis.P-TTLCP exhibited a wide melting temperature range from 244 to 280°C,which showed excellent liquid crystalline texture and a high flame retardancy with a limiting oxygen index value of 61.6%.
