As for the large spin state(S = 3/2)and significant magnetic anisotropy in various coordination geometry,cobalt(Ⅱ)ion has been regarded as an ideal candidate for constructing single-molecule magnets(SMMs).Recently,Zhang et al.reported that an air-stable mononuclear [CoⅡ(Tpm)2][BPh4]2·2MeCN(Tpm = tris(pyrazol-1-yl)methane),where the Co(Ⅱ)ion is located in trigonal antiprismatic geometry,exhibited excellent SMM behaviour with huge negative D value(-100cm-1).1 Later,they successfully constructed a new WⅤ-CoⅡ single chain magnet with the Ising-type magnetic anisotropy resulted from the introduction of trigonal distortion on cobalt ions.
