The development of environment-friendly and high energy density cathode materials is highly desired for the clean and sustainable Li-ion batteries (LIBs) system.To take advantage the effect of oxygen-containing functional groups (such as >C=O and-COOH) which can act as the reaction centers with lithium ions (>C=O + Li+ + e-(→)C-O-Li) [1],graphene with oxygenic functional groups has been recently studied as cathode materials for high performance lithium-ion batteries,which could rapidly and reversibly capture lithium ions through surface adsorption and/or surface redox reaction,showing remarkable lithium storage capacity and excellent cycling stability.So this transition-metal-free functionalized graphene has shown great potential to substitute the current active inorganic cathode materials[2].
